UConn Needs New Coach after Mora takes Colorado State Job
After the most successful two-year stretch in its FBS existence, UConn football will be looking for a new coach. deal is imminent between Colorado State and Jim Mora Jr. to make him the new Rams head coach. Mora was hired in 2021 after the end of Randy Edsall’s disastrous second tenure and in the wake of UConn football’s move to independence out of the AAC. In his first season, 2022, Mora led the Huskies to a 6-7 record and the program’s first bowl appearance since 2015. In 2023, they took a step back as the campaign started with five straight losses and ended 3-9. That offseason, the program hired personnel staff and significantly upped its investment in NIL, bringing in players with the type of pedigree that had never previously set foot in the UConn locker room before. In 2024, the Huskies won eight regular-season games for the first time since 2010 before triumphing over North Carolina at the Fenway Bowl — its first bowl victory since 2009.
